Winter is here and we are thrilled for the most glamorous season. There’s something magical about keeping warm in an Alpine retreat, your loved ones close by and hot drinks in hand. This year, we embraced the magic of Lech, Austria — a place known for incredible slopes, delightful dining spots and the coziest Alpine retreats.
We teamed up with MJL Select for an exclusive COZY fam trip after our ILTM debut. Our home for 48 hours? The charming Severin’s – The Alpine Retreat. Getting to Lech: The Journey Sets the Tone
We flew into Zurich, the most convenient airport, where Severin’s had arranged a private transfer for the two-hour journey. We settled into a beautiful and comfortable adventure: serene Alpine views, snow-dusted landscapes and idyllic spots like Obersee Lake, where Germany, Austria and Switzerland meet.
We were drained after a hectic week at ILTM but—as we neared Lech and the landscape transformed into a winter wonderland—we felt restored. We knew we were about to experience something extraordinary.

A beautifully designed living area with a roaring fireplace; floor-to-ceiling windows framing breathtaking views of the snow-capped Alps; a luxurious bedroom with crisp linens; an elegant bathroom complete with a deep soaking tub. Every detail reflected Severin’s commitment to thoughtful luxury.
The Ski Experience: Slopes for Every Skill Level
Severin’s ski concierge has you covered, whether you’re a seasoned skier or a first-timer. The team handles everything — equipment rentals, slope-side tips and seamless transfers.
The slopes are just a five-minute drive away. The crisp mountain air and snow-dusted tree on our way set the tone for a perfect day of skiing.
Lech’s terrain offers something for everyone. Thrill-seekers can race down challenging runs; beginners ease into the sport on the many gentler slopes. Our trip was extra special because Aanchal took her first ski lesson — and nailed it! Her instructor, Bernart, expertly guided her as she glided down the slopes with confidence and a huge smile. Proof that skiing can be fun at every level of skill.
Dining at Severin’s: Where Flavor Meets Warmth
Chef Marius Pieper’s approach is refreshingly creative transforming classic Alpine cuisine into marvels both comforting and exciting. Expect carefully designed plates that highlight seasonal flavors and focus on fresh, regional produce and high-quality meats. Every meal at Severin’s was fantastic! Our day started with freshly baked bread, rich cheeses and aromatic coffee and ended it with a beautifully coursed dinner that warmed us from the inside out.
The Star of the Show: Kaiserschmarrn with Plum Roast
The standout? Severin’s Kaiserschmarrn — a perfectly caramelized, fluffy shredded pancake served with a rich, spiced plum compote. It’s the kind of dessert you’ll dream about.
A Team That Feels Like Family
Guided by the warm and welcoming General Manager, Paul Gründemann, the staff at Severin’s throughout is energetic and incredibly charming. Their enthusiasm, attention to detail and genuine care made every dining experience special.

We ended our magical trip with a farewell dinner at Hus Nr. 8, a charming, rustic spot in town that is a big COZY bear hug. The moment we stepped in, we knew we were in for something special. The air was alive— families and couples enjoying a beautiful evening and our lovely group settling in for one last unforgettable meal together. Festivity was in the air and everything just felt right.
The star of the evening was the fondue. Those glorious pots of bubbling, melted cheese on the table, surrounded by fresh bread, vegetables and all the fixings. We laughed and toasted the night away, savoring it all. It was a night about connections — to each other, to the place and to the simple joy of sharing a meal. The small details made it magical: the warm smiles of the staff, the gorgeous candlelight and the sense we were part of something special.
